Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV

“It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”

Mother Teresa

We are called to be a “Matthew 25” congregation for our community: to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the sick and lonely – and in so doing, to share the good news of Christ’s love with our neighbors.

We have the privilege of partnering with God’s work in the world by using our gifts and resources through the local church.

For those who would like to do automatic deductions from their checking account, contact the church office to request the form to set up, terminate, or alter your monthly gift.
Where do my donations at Chatham UMC go?

Donations to the church are used to spread the gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ. Your gifts to Chatham UMC allow the church to perform a wide variety of ministries for missions and outreach, care for the congregation, worship, music, youth, children, Sunday school, and study groups as well as keep the doors open, the staff paid, and the lights on.

How does Chatham UMC uphold financial accountability?

Chatham UMC is committed to honoring God’s provision by exercising wise and faithful stewardship, ethical business practices, and full accountability to ensure the financial integrity of God’s church. We accomplish this through a system of internal controls, budgeting, and reporting processes.

  • An audit is performed annually.
  • Narrative Budget is distributed to each member of the congregation in January explaining in ordinary terms how Chatham UMC spends the funds it receives.
  • Any member of the church may request a copy of Chatham UMC’s financial statements. Contact us or call (217)483-2132 to ask general questions about our financial practices.
