The Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference (IGRC) will convene in Peoria again this year, from June 8-10 (with special pre-gatherings on Wednesday evening the 7th).  We will worship and pray together, celebrate what God is doing in the United Methodist Church across Illinois, and conduct the business of the Conference.
Annual Conference

Chatham United Methodist Church will be represented by clergy member Sara Isbell and lay members Michael Ferguson and Jane Stricklin.  Also participating from Chatham UMC will be Reverends Keith Anderson, Ted Frost and Thomas Logsdon, as well as lay staff: Paul Black, Nancy Patton, Laura Steinway, Doug and Jill Stone.  Please be in prayer for all of us as we travel and strengthen our connection together!  In particular, our district is asked to provide prayer coverage on Wednesday evening June 7. Please lift our Bishop, Frank Beard, our Superintendent, Terry Harter, and all members and participants in the conference.

Four workshops will be held on Thursday and Friday of Annual Conference, which all church members are invited to attend:

  • Building the Church in Prayer (Rev. Dr. Terry Teykl)
  • Can We Talk? Respectful Communication in a Polarized Church and Society (Rev. Stephanie Ann Hixon)
  • Evangelism for Non-Evangelists (Rev. Dr. Mark R. Teasdale)
  • Reaching New and Next Generations: Ministry with Gen Xers and Millennials (Rev. Dr. Joe Scheets and Rev. Jessica Baldyga)

Collections and Offerings will be received at Annual Conference for the John Kofi Asmah School in Liberia, the Ordinands’ Trip in Spring 2018, the Tom Brown Scholarship at Wiley College, and for the Midwest Mission Distribution Center and Fair Hope Ministry.  If you’d like to send a donation along with any of our participants, just bring it to church before we leave town and we’ll be happy to include your contribution!
